How Old Do I Need to Be?
Camptown works with students from 8 to 18 years of age. Programs will be designed for age appropriateness. Most overnight and higher adventure trips are designed for students over the age of twelve.
Can I do This?
Yes you can! Youth with no experience or with years of experience will find the adventure both challenging and rewarding. Although you will be challenged both physically and mentally our program is designed to provide a successful finish to all who apply themselves.
What Do I Need to Bring?
A willingness to seek out new experiences and overcome challenges along with a positive attitude. Camptown will provide equipment, training, and transportation. Participants will provide their own clothing and food. Freeze dried foods are available though Camptown at substantially reduced costs.
What Will I be Doing?
Camptown provides outdoor wilderness adventure experiences. We are not a residential camp. You will be engaged in a wilderness adventure which means carrying all of your equipment, sleeping in a tent, preparing your own meals, relying on yourself and your team to overcome challenges and unpredictable situation, and you can always count on the unexpected to occur.
Why do Programs Take Place in the Wilderness?
A wilderness or outdoor environment presents unfamiliar territory with unanticipated challenges that require the immediate use of like skills to productively overcome obstacles that lie in the path to success. All Camptown program and activities are designed to encourage and promote leadership, teamwork, decision making, problems solving and cooperation.
How Much Does a Program Cost?
Costs will vary greatly depending upon the number of students, location, activity and length of the program. We can design a program for almost any budget. Camptown can also work with your not-for-profit organization to help with grant writing. In some cases Camptown goes out and finds the funding needed for a group. Financial assistance is available to individual students with a financial need. We don’t want financial need to be an obstacle for any student not able to participate in one of these life changing adventures.
