For the past several months, we’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on a major milestone that’s sure to transform Camptown for years to come. Today, we’re excited to finally announce it: Thanks to an incredible partnership with Lowe’s, Camptown has been awarded a $400,000 Lowe’s Community Impact Grant! This generous support will serve as the springboard for the first phase of many improvements to our new Base Camp property — an effort that will transform our home into a place that will serve thousands of Central Indiana youth for years to come. Watching our vision become a reality has been an incredibly exciting experience, and it is only the beginning.
The Start of a New Chapter
The updates we envision are about so much more than the property itself. Our hope is that Base Camp can become a place where young people of all backgrounds feel welcomed, inspired, and connected to the great outdoors. We envision a place where Indianapolis’ youth can build confidence, discover new passions, and experience adventure in meaningful ways. Needless to say, this milestone marks the start of a huge new chapter for Camptown. While there’s still a long road ahead, the momentum is building every day… and we’d love for you to be part of it. To kick-off this transformative era in Camptown’s history, we’re hosting a Volunteer Day on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 alongside our partners at Lowe’s. Join us in rolling up our sleeves and spend the day painting, planting, defining trails and more — all in service of creating lasting adventure memories for the youth we serve! Currently, we have three volunteer shifts available throughout the day:
- 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
