Volunteer
Adventure Academy: We provide meaningful learning experiences for elementary, middle and high school students through experiential education outdoors! Offerings range from once-a-year team building at your school, to grade-based progressions that include cabin camping, adventure day camps, tent camping excursions and wilderness backpacking treks with whitewater rafting! Partnerships can begin with a teacher, social worker, counselor or administrator.
Overnight Camp: Let us take your class or grade level team for a memorable camping trip designed for 4th to 12th grade students. Students will stay in cabins or tents. During the day students can participate in activities including canoeing, fishing, hiking, animal programs, team building games, and crafts. We can also customize activities to meet your academic curriculum and give your students a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Eco Camp is a one day science immersion at a local park. Students will learn about water, woods, animal ecosystems, and how humans influence those ecosystems. Our trained facilitators can guide stream quality assessments which is popular as participants get to learn through a creek stomp. Designed for 5th to 8th graders, your students will rotate between stations with activity-based learning, and get up close and personal with nature.
Trailblazers: For high school students with cognitive and developmental disabilities. This program challenges these students to apply classroom, life skill concepts in a real world experience. Our Trailblazers adventures reinforce life skills such as independence, menu prep, cooking, cleaning, teamwork, and respecting nature. Teachers are often amazed at the potential that their students demonstrate!
How Wild is Your School: “How Wild is Your School?” is a fun, energetic, thought provoking way to teach your students about the world around them. Camptown staff will come to your school and work with your class to bring outdoor education to the everyday through a hands-on learning experience that not only teaches students about nature, but helps to develop a love for the environment.

- Facilitated Teambuilding sessions at your school (3rd-12th grades): Teachers and administrators value our ability to use low-ropes style initiatives and icebreakers to build community and improve communication skills among a class or across grade levels.
- Overnight cabin camping at a state park (4th-12th grades): A hot dog roast with s’mores after a day exploring caves, ravines, and forests? Yes please! This is an incredible way to build classroom culture and deepen relationships that really set the stage for learning once back at school.
- Overnight tent camping with adventure challenge (6th-12th grades): For many, their first night in a tent is exhilarating and memorable. We like to couple this with an extended group scavenger hunt-style challenge which elevates students into leadership roles, applying their skills to navigate successfully.
- Adventure challenge course (6th-12th grades): At several local parks, our staff have designed fun yet challenging orienteering checkpoints that push students to work together in teams to explore new places, learn environmental concepts, and even master the good ole’ fashioned map and compass.
- Wilderness High Adventure (8th-12th grades): How about taking a week of school in the rolling hills and mountains of Tennessee? Backcountry settings – away from technology and the hustle-bustle – allow for deep interpersonal connection and fantastic learning experiences that can last a lifetime. Oh – and add whitewater rafting to increase the adrenaline and thrill factor!
- Adventure day (K-8th grades): The perfect introductory outdoor recreation and nature exploration experience, this day can be integrated to learning targets with activities that include canoeing, fishing, hiking, games, orienteering, and more, giving kids can get a taste for the benefits of the great outdoors!

Trailblazers
Trailblazer programs are for high school students with cognitive and developmental disabilities. How Wild Is Your School?
“How Wild is Your School?” is a fun, energetic, thought provoking way to teach your students about the world around them. Camptown staff will come to your school and working with your class will bring outdoor education to the everyday through a hands on learning experience that not only teaches students about nature, but helps to develop a love for the environment.
Program Description:
- 45 minute to 1 hour programs done outside at your school
- Activity based, hands on learning for 15-20 students at one time
- Curriculum applicable to 3rd-8th grades
- Multiple classes can receive instruction in one day
- Topics align with Indiana Academic Standards
Current Topics Include:
Animals & Their Habitats
Allow students to develop concepts of animals and their habitats and the interrelation between the two. What is a habitat? Who lives there? Where are habitats around our school?
Earth Keepers
Show students the role they play in taking care of the environment through fun, hands on activities.
Together we will explore how humans impact the environment around us.
Map Skills & Orienteering
Allow students to develop a better understanding of maps and compasses as well as how to use them. Together we will explore different map styles including topographic and road maps.
TEAMBUILDING
This fun-filled challenging time of individual and group problem solving will allow your students unique opportunities to see what it means to truly work as a team.
