On Monday December 2, 2024, the IndyStar shared an incredible article about Camptown programs in their Season for Sharing feature.
“If the proliferation of screens and social media is ailing the youth, Camptown provides the antidote.
Every year, thousands of Central Indiana kids come through Camptown’s outdoor programs to learn new skills and entrench themselves in nature. The ultimate goal is is to strengthen their mental, physical, emotional and social health.
‘We use the outdoors as a classroom,’ said Brent Freeman, Executive Director. He sees the impact in each batch of kids who come through their doors: The boost in confidence when learning how to guide an unsteady canoe through a rippling river. The eyes widening after turning a trail corner and seeing a waterfall. Or shoulders relaxing when enveloped in the calm, harmonic noises of the forest.'”
